  • How to apply in Kinshasa

    1. Applications for a UK visa in DRC must first be completed on line at www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk. All visa applications forms (VAFs) must be completed in English.

    2. Once you have completed the application form you will need to book an appointment online to attend the British Embassy in Kinshasa, you will receive an email confirmation of your appointment.
      PLEASE NOTE: Visa applications can be submitted at the British Embassy Kinshasa up to a maximum of 3 months before your proposed date of travel.

    3. You must attend the British Embassy in person for your allocated appointment. You should take with you:

      • a printed, signed copy of your visa application form,
      • a passport sized photograph
      • The correct visa fee payable in US dollars (as detailed below).

        PLEASE NOTE: the visa application fee is for the processing of the application and is non-refundable,

      • all applications must be accompanied by a signed Genuine Document declaration form and the relevant completed checklist

        WARNING - If you submit false documents or make false representations your visa application will be refused. If you have broken the UK immigration laws you will be banned from the UK for up to ten years,

      • all relevant documents to support your application - please refer to the required documentation page on this website, All documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation and each original document you wish to have returned to you must be accompanied by a copy.


    4. Whilst at the British Embassy you will also have your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) taken and enrolled.

    5. The visa application is then sent to the British High Commission, Nairobi, Kenya where it is assessed by a trained Entry Clearance Officer who will make a decision on it. Visa applications are assessed "on papers" based on the information and evidence provided with the visa application form. Only in a very small number of cases will you be offered an interview in connection with your visa application.

    6. Once a decision has been made your passport, and any original documents, for which you have supplied photocopies, will be returned to the British Embassy Kinshasa for you to collect. You will be contacted when your passport and decision is ready for collection.
